The Spring Breeding planner detects in-bred animals and helps you plan for the best performance of your animals. Printable reports including pedigree history, sales performance, animal report card, ID manifest for all breeds, and more. Graphical comparisons give an alternate view of your operation. Historical data shows your complete operation currently and every year entered (even dead and unmanaged animals). Ranch Manager also allows you to store a picture of your animal.

Ranch Manager was created with the Rancher’s needs in mind; we worked with a number of different Ranchers with various types of operations to come up with the set of features to best help you. In fact, some of our design staff have direct ranch experience! If you have any questions or comments about Ranch Manager, we would like to hear from you.

Detailed Animal Records: Characteristics such as breed, gender, sire, dam, birth date, birth weight, birth ease and more. Keep detailed notes about each animal in your herd. Save a picture of the animal. Enter multiple id tags for tracking purposes. Enter events that have happened to the animal throughout its lifetime. Provide standard purebred information such as registration number and trait information (EPDs).

Government ID Tracking: Multiple ID tags such as brisket, metal, plastic, government registration, tattoo and brand. Since the BSE crisis affecting North American cattle operations has occurred, new government regulations have been levied requiring ranchers to place government issued IDs in their animals and track transactions involving animals. Ranch Manager comes with an easy- to-use interface, allowing you to conform to the new industry standards. Country of origin is also recorded.

Pasture and Location Management: Move your animals from one location to another and track there location history. Manage bull exposure and make informed breeding decisions with automatic inbreed detection. Sketch out maps of any portion of your property and link them to animal holding areas. With the move of the mouse you can visually see which animals were in a location at a given time. Multiple views, make it easy for you to get the information you need about where your animals are located, and where they were located.

Feed Management: Apply feeding plans to your locations, and track the amount of food consumed by each animal. Ranch Manager will calculate the cost and amount of feed consumed by animals in the location where feed is applied, saving you a lot of math and providing you with valuable information.

ID Manifests: With Ranch Manager you can print out ID Manifests, which you can use at sales to identify your animals, or while you, are out in your herd looking up animals. The ID Manifest report includes information such as animal ID, birth date of animal, current tracking number, plastic tag, brisket tag, metal tag and tattoo.

Multiple Views of your Herd: With Ranch Manager viewing your herd could never be easier. Your herd is separated out into major categories such as Calf Crop, Herd Dams, Herd Sires, Animal Sales, and Unmanaged Animals. Each view gives you the opportunity to view the animals in a list with various characteristics displayed, or you can use the pedigree and offspring views to discover an animal’s family tree, or drill into the set of offspring the animal is responsible for (including grandchildren, and beyond). You may also search for an animal or specific set of animals based on IDs and/or characteristics.

Pedigree Editor: Track and record unlimited generations. Print and View 3 generations at a time, or use the expanded pedigree tree, to view the animal's entire pedigree.

Event Tracking: Any event that can happen to an animal you can track. Specific events supported include: animal sale, animal treatment (vaccinations, etc), artificial insemination/breeding, birth, and death. A custom event is also available for you to enter any custom event information. Events automatically show up in the Rancher’s Calendar so you can easily keep a history of your operation. You can enter a single event that affects multiple animals with an intuitive and easy-to-use interface.

Cattle Gestation history: Track an animal’s gestation history. When a breeding record is provided, Rancher's calendar will send a reminder when the calf is estimated to calve.

Breeding Planner: Ranch Manager will help you avoid placing herd dams with incompatible herd sires. The breeding planner allows you to find out which sires will cause inbreeding with dams in your herd. You can also print the report so you can take it with you to the corral when you are doing spring planning.

Inbreeding Detection: With inbreeding detection Ranch Manager will warn you when a sire crossed with a dam will result in an inbred animal, and at what generational level the inbreeding took place. You can also view the pedigree graphically, with potential problems marked out.

Breed Records: Enter detailed information about each breed of animal involved in your operation such as name, weaning period, yearling period, gestation period, and membership ID for breed associations. Also keep detailed notes about each breed in your herd. Monitor breed performance by allowing you to view averages on price per pound, sale weight, and total sales and compare them side-by-side to the other breeds in your herd, or view this information historically. This information can be filtered by animal age, gender and ownership.

Purebred EPD Information: Purebred modules allow you to enter specific EPD information for Angus and Gelbvieh breeders, other cattle breeds coming soon. A default purebred module is also available to enter the most common EPDs for your other breeds.

Rancher’s Calendar: The Rancher’s Calendar is designed to keep you organized and to keep you informed as to what is going on in your operation. The calendar also provides an invaluable historical catalog of what has transpired on your operation. View your calendar by month, or drill down to a specific day. Add entries to your calendar with an easy-to-use interface. Hover the mouse over visual cues and receive detailed information without drilling down.

Rancher’s Journal: In conjunction with the calendar, the Rancher’s Journal allows you to keep a journal of your day-to-day activities on the ranch. This free-form area allows you to be expressive and organized.

Animal Body Score: Record body score information including date, weight, body condition and any notes about the animal.

Sales Tracking and Reporting: With Ranch Manager you can easily track animals that you are planning to sell, as well as get detailed reports based on sale activity. Reporting information is collected historically and allows you to view information based on average price per pound, or total sales. The information can be filtered by animal age, gender, and ownership.

In Place Help: Ranch Manager comes with a comprehensive help system which will take you step by step through the most commonly executed tasks without requiring you to flip back and forth between the manual. The "How Do I" help system is there when you need it, and gone when you don't.

Intelligent Use of Hover Text: Ranch Manager will save you time by giving you the information you need faster. Throughout Ranch Manager you can simply hover your mouse over certain items on the screen and Ranch Manager will provide a summary pop-up about the item you are hovering over.
