Records: Characteristics such as breed, gender, sire,
dam, birth date, birth weight, birth ease and more. Keep detailed
notes about each animal in your herd. Save a picture of the
animal. Enter multiple id tags for tracking purposes. Enter
events that have happened to the animal throughout its lifetime.
Provide standard purebred information such as registration number
and trait information (EPDs).
Government ID Tracking: Multiple
ID tags such as brisket, metal, plastic, government registration,
tattoo and brand. Since the BSE crisis affecting North American
cattle operations has occurred, new government regulations
have been levied requiring ranchers to place government issued
IDs in their animals and track transactions involving animals.
Ranch Manager comes with an easy- to-use interface, allowing
you to conform to the new industry standards. Country of origin
is also recorded.
Pasture and Location Management:
Move your animals from one location to another and track there
location history. Manage bull exposure and make informed breeding
decisions with automatic inbreed detection. Sketch out maps
of any portion of your property and link them to animal holding
areas. With the move of the mouse you can visually see which
animals were in a location at a given time. Multiple views,
make it easy for you to get the information you need about
where your animals are located, and where they were located.
Feed Management: Apply feeding
plans to your locations, and track the amount of food consumed
by each animal. Ranch Manager will calculate the cost and
amount of feed consumed by animals in the location where feed
is applied, saving you a lot of math and providing you with
valuable information.
ID Manifests: With Ranch Manager
you can print out ID Manifests, which you can use at sales
to identify your animals, or while you, are out in your herd
looking up animals. The ID Manifest report includes information
such as animal ID, birth date of animal, current tracking
number, plastic tag, brisket tag, metal tag and tattoo.
Multiple Views of your Herd:
With Ranch Manager viewing your herd could never be easier.
Your herd is separated out into major categories such as Calf
Crop, Herd Dams, Herd Sires, Animal Sales, and Unmanaged Animals.
Each view gives you the opportunity to view the animals in
a list with various characteristics displayed, or you can
use the pedigree and offspring views to discover an animal’s
family tree, or drill into the set of offspring the animal
is responsible for (including grandchildren, and beyond).
You may also search for an animal or specific set of animals
based on IDs and/or characteristics.
Pedigree Editor: Track and record
unlimited generations. Print and View 3 generations at a time,
or use the expanded pedigree tree, to view the animal's entire
pedigree.
Event Tracking: Any event that
can happen to an animal you can track. Specific events supported
include: animal sale, animal treatment (vaccinations, etc),
artificial insemination/breeding, birth, and death. A custom
event is also available for you to enter any custom event
information. Events automatically show up in the Rancher’s
Calendar so you can easily keep a history of your operation.
You can enter a single event that affects multiple animals
with an intuitive and easy-to-use interface.
Cattle Gestation history: Track
an animal’s gestation history. When a breeding record
is provided, Rancher's calendar will send a reminder when
the calf is estimated to calve.
Breeding Planner: Ranch Manager
will help you avoid placing herd dams with incompatible herd
sires. The breeding planner allows you to find out which sires
will cause inbreeding with dams in your herd. You can also
print the report so you can take it with you to the corral
when you are doing spring planning.
Inbreeding Detection: With inbreeding
detection Ranch Manager will warn you when a sire crossed
with a dam will result in an inbred animal, and at what generational
level the inbreeding took place. You can also view the pedigree
graphically, with potential problems marked out.
Breed Records: Enter detailed
information about each breed of animal involved in your operation
such as name, weaning period, yearling period, gestation period,
and membership ID for breed associations. Also keep detailed
notes about each breed in your herd. Monitor breed performance
by allowing you to view averages on price per pound, sale
weight, and total sales and compare them side-by-side to the
other breeds in your herd, or view this information historically.
This information can be filtered by animal age, gender and
ownership.
Purebred EPD Information: Purebred
modules allow you to enter specific EPD information for Angus
and Gelbvieh breeders, other cattle breeds coming soon. A
default purebred module is also available to enter the most
common EPDs for your other breeds.
Rancher’s Calendar: The
Rancher’s Calendar is designed to keep you organized
and to keep you informed as to what is going on in your operation.
The calendar also provides an invaluable historical catalog
of what has transpired on your operation. View your calendar
by month, or drill down to a specific day. Add entries to
your calendar with an easy-to-use interface. Hover the mouse
over visual cues and receive detailed information without
drilling down.
Rancher’s Journal: In
conjunction with the calendar, the Rancher’s Journal
allows you to keep a journal of your day-to-day activities
on the ranch. This free-form area allows you to be expressive
and organized.
Animal Body Score: Record body
score information including date, weight, body condition and
any notes about the animal.
Sales Tracking and Reporting:
With Ranch Manager you can easily track animals that you are
planning to sell, as well as get detailed reports based on
sale activity. Reporting information is collected historically
and allows you to view information based on average price
per pound, or total sales. The information can be filtered
by animal age, gender, and ownership.
Print reports such as Animal details, Breeding Plan, ID manifest,
current table screen,graphs (Total Sales by breed) and more.
In Place Help: Ranch Manager
comes with a comprehensive help system which will take you
step by step through the most commonly executed tasks without
requiring you to flip back and forth between the manual. The
"How Do I" help system is there when you need it,
and gone when you don't.
Intelligent Use of Hover Text:
Ranch Manager will save you time by giving you the information
you need faster. Throughout Ranch Manager you can simply hover
your mouse over certain items on the screen and Ranch Manager
will provide a summary pop-up about the item you are hovering
over. This saves you clicks and time.
Context Sensitive Help: Getting
help has never been easier. Ranch Manager’s help system
is embedded directly into the software. If you need to know
about anything in the program, simply click on the help button
and then click on the item you want information on. It’s
that simple.

Premises ID: Ranch Manager has
implemented a “Farm Identification” id (premises
id) to track the location movements of your animals. Premises
at birth, animal commingling, total premises history and the
life cycle history of the animal.
Income/Expenses Tracking: Record
income and expenses into Ranch Manager. Print reports to ease
